The Aviation Units mission is to support all Patrol, Investigative, and Special Operations Divisions within the Jackson Police Department through airborne Law Enforcement strategies. The Aviation Unit also assists other agencies to include Federal, State, and Local within West Tennessee. The Aviation Unit consists of two full time pilots, one part time mechanic, and several Tactical Flight Officers (TFOs). The Unit falls within the chain of command with the Special Operations Division, commanded by Deputy Chief Barry Michael.
