TerraCycle Solo Cup Challenge

Through TerraCycle, Solo brand is bringing Jackson the opportunity to recycle any brand and size “#6” plastic party cups during the holidays for free.

To participate, just look for the “#6“ symbol on the bottom of the cup (any brand cup with the #6 symbol); collect them; give them a quick rinse; and stack and place them in any shipping box. Then, call or email our Recycling Coordinator for your free shipping label. There is no charge to ship.

If you don’t have a box, you can schedule to drop-off your cups at our Health and a Sanitation Department located at 180 Conalco Drive and we will ship them for you.

City of Jackson, TN Recycling Convenience Center opening in 2023

Procedures and best practices are of importance as the center will be impacted by several variables including contamination, weather, absence of operators, and the ability to timely empty bins. The recommended operations schedule and procedures detailed here will help keep the Recycling Convenience Center efficient, effective, and environmentally safe.

Tuesday – Friday: 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. and 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M.


ASSISTANCE OR EDUCATION FOR RESIDENTS:
Public is expected to properly sort their materials themselves. Attendants will be available to help with any questions about how to sort these materials. Attendant is expected to education on the items accepted, items not accepted, and best practices for the facility. The attendant is there to be a resource for the resident. Information Category cards will be available for residents to better help with proper recycling and sorting of materials.

PUBLIC TRAFFIC ROUTING:
The center is designed to be efficient and reduce traffic incidents. All traffic will be routed in a counter-clockwise direction through the center. Attendants, signage, and directional arrows will help with the traffic flow. Bins will be placed according to the traffic as well.

VISITOR AND PHONE POLICY:
Only attendants are allowed in the recycling center building. Visitors are not permitted to loiter in the area and be a distraction to the attendants.

PUBLIC SAFETY:
In case of inclement weather or mechanical issues at the facility, the facility will remain closed to the public until remedied. Please refer to www.jacksontn.gov and/or the City of Jackson, TN's social media pages for closures or information.

RECOVERABLE ITEMS ACCEPTED:
Materials need to be rinsed out and free of food. There is no need to wash extensively or with soap.

  • MOST PLASTICS WILL BE CODED ON THE BOTTOM. CHECK THE PACKAGING FOR THE TYPE OF PLASTIC.
