Our Animal Control Officers enforce all of the City Ordinances and work with Jackson Police Department to enforce all applicable state laws in regards to the welfare of animals. They address dogs running at large, dangerous and potentially dangerous dogs, animal neglect and cruelty situations, and are usually our first point of contact with people who find themselves in bad situations and need help finding a workable solution. They are available for complaint resolution and calls for service Monday- Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and are available for emergency calls on the weekends and after hours. Emergency calls must be dispatched through the Jackson Police Department.
We encourage the public to report situations that they are concerned about. It's better to be safe than sorry. If you feel like an animal is at risk, please call us as soon as you notice the issue so that we can handle it before it escalates.
We have a population of right around 67,000 people and approximately 17,500 pet owning households in Jackson. Our Officers stay busy so your patience with them is appreciated. They handle dangerous animals and potentially combative people regularly and are trying their best to give each call the attention it deserves.

DECEASED ANIMAL PICK-UP
Deceased animal pick-up is a service provided to the residents of the city at no charge, but animals on privately owned property must be bagged and placed by the closest roadway. This service is available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This service may be requested by calling Health and Sanitation at 731-425-8545.
The only pick ups done after hours, on weekends, or on holidays are large animals in the roadway causing a potential risk to motorists and must be dispatched through the Jackson Police Department.
